My first large-scale sculpture was a six-foot-tall rooster, consisting of 160 pieces of scrap lumber. Since that time I have worked in media ranging from house paint and tar paper to raw canvas and oil paint, found objects and detritus.

I have been influenced by Beat Poetry, Jazz and Mexican Folk Art, and I love Primitivism, Fauvism and the great Expressionists of the twentieth century. My work explores the human body and human relationships. I also paint the world around me -- cityscapes, landscapes, seascapes.

I am also a musician, and I love to perform and interact with audiences. I have been a folksinger and guitarist, a bluegrass bass and banjo player, and a rock 'n roll singer.
