“Portraits of Friends in Isolation” began with the Covid-19 pandemic. I reached out to friends with a simple idea: Send me a head and shoulders selfie of how you are today, and I will paint it as a portrait. I wanted to capture some of the essence of how we all feel during this strange time, and express as best I could the individual sharing their feelings with me. My friend John Thornton made a video of the project.
